diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough, or does not properly respond to, insulin, a hormone produced in the pancreas, as in example in case of sublinical Cushing's syndrome. Insulin enables cells to absorb glucose in order to turn it into energy. In diabetes, the body either fails to properly respond to its own insulin, does not make enough insulin, or both. This causes glucose to accumulate in the blood, often leading to various complications.

Some of the factors that contribute to the development of diabetes

Heredity
Heredity is a major factor. That diabetes can be inherited has been known for centuries. However, the pattern of inheritance is not fully understood. Statistics show that those who have a family history of disease have a higher risk of developing diabetes than those who do not have a background like that. The risk factors are 25 to 33 percent more.

One reason why diabetes, especially type 2 diabetes run in families are due to diabetes gene. But even that is caused by genetic factors beyond your control, there is no reason to suffer from it. Diabetes can not be cured in full sense, but can be controlled effectively, so you will not know the difference.

Diet
Diabetes has been described by most medical scientists as a prosperity 'disease, primarily caused by systematic overeating. Not just eating too much sugar and refined carbohydrates harmful, but proteins and fats, which turn into sugar, may also result in diabetes if taken in excess.

It is interesting to note that diabetes is almost unknown in countries where people are poor and unable to eat much.

The incidence of diabetes is directly related to the consumption of processed foods rich in carbohydrates, like biscuits, bread, chocolate cake, pudding and ice cream.

Obesity
Obesity is one of the main causes of diabetes. Studies show that 60 to 85% of people with diabetes tend to be overweight. In the United States, approximately 80 percent of type -2 non-insulin dependent diabetes reported being overweight.

Preventing excess fat insulin work properly. The more fatty tissue in the body, the more resistant the muscle and tissue cells of the body to insulin. Insulin allows blood sugar to enter cells acting on receptors on the cell surface.

Parents often tend to gain weight, and the same time, many of those who develop a mild form of diabetes and because the more weight can improve their blood sugar simply by losing weight.

Stress and Tension
There is a known relationship between stress and diabetes, those who were under pressure and / or lead a lifestyle that does not irregular, it is necessary to take adequate precautions and making lifestyle adjustments are needed.

Sadness, worry and anxiety resulting from examinations, death of close family, loss of joy, business failure and strained marital relationship, all a deep influence on sugar metabolism and can cause appears in the urine.

Smoking
Smoking is another important risk factor. Among those who smoked, the risk of diabetes doubled. In women who smoked 25 or more cigarettes a day, the risk of diabetes increased by 40 percent.

Lifestyle Risk

People are less active have greater risk of developing diabetes. Modern comforts have made the job easier. Physical activity and exercise helps control weight, will use much glucose (sugar) present in the blood as energy and makes cells more sensitive to insulin. As a result, the workload on the pancreas decreases.
